Looking Forward

My name is Ashley T. I'm currently working on a bachelor's degree in social work. Spring 2021 is my last semester! I'm beyond excited. I'm looking forward to spending more time reading, journaling, and exercising.

Being a college student has been really difficult for me with personal, professional, and financial problems intersecting with academic problems. As a requirement for graduation, I'm currently interning for a homeless shelter, Bronx Parent Housing Network/Promise Place.

This internship has forced me to address the trauma I endured as a single, homeless woman months before I was placed with the agency. This internship has also brought my unconscious bias to the forefront, to my conscious mind, and forced me to explore long held thoughts and beliefs.

When I graduate, I plan to enroll in a debt repayment program, lose ALL of the weight I've gained since I was a freshman, develop my hobbies, find a spiritual practice that speaks to me, reconnect with my friends, and find meaningful, administrative work. I hope to find peace within myself and quiet my racing thoughts.

I hope to have more years full of growth and transformation! Congratulations to the class of 2021!
